November’s Harta! This one might end up a bit special to me in retrospect for being coincidentally when I made that big rundown post (although I have been wondering if it might not be prudent to just keep an updated version for issues going forward – I dunno).

There’s a 新連載 this issue, which is nice since it feels like they’ve been a little light on those recently! I’m just going to steal whole-cloth what I said about it for the rundown post: 神に誓って偽りです by 松本水星: A girl seeks the help of an expert fraudster to save her family restaurant from a shady financing group. I’m sufficiently intrigued! The art seems especially good.

A cute premise in いやはや熱海くん by 田沼朝 this week as the cast tries to figure out the source of an anonymous love letter in Atami-kun’s shoe locker.

I liked the 読切 『口裂け女 アメリカへ行く』by 武梨えり! It’s about the shift in folkloric creatures from yokai into urban legends as times change, and I was amused by the idea of a being that was once a yokai shifting form to be the apocryphal マックの女子高生.

夜の名前を呼んで by 三星たま concludes this issue! I wasn’t completely over the moon for this series, and didn’t do a great job of keeping track of its characters in serialization, but its take on magic was frequently delightful, and it seems like a very fun series with an absolute ton of heart, and I’m sad to see it go!

I'm increasingly taken with 犬火の兄弟 by 吉田真百合 . I wonder if this painting by Gyoshu Hayami was an influence here?

The second part of ジラソウレ by 沼野あおい concludes this issue. To be honest, this involves so many real figures (mainly painters) in such strange circumstances that when it started up in serialization again for part 2 I’d already made my piece with not quite knowing what to make of it. I’d be curious to try to take it in as a whole (if there isn’t a part 3…?) and figure out what I think of it though for sure.
